Tell us a little bit about the work that you do for the Health Professions.
I work with faculty, staff and students in health professions programs to help them optimize their use of online educational technologies. I wear a few hats, acting as a consultant and sometimes as a project manager; I also get involved in instructional design work and video production.
What has been the most exciting project of the last year?
This year I have been involved in helping some departments to integrate video and web conferencing into their teaching. I developed support training resources for that and have been working closely with the Collaboration Technologies team as well as individual health departments to help bring it together.
What challenge are you most looking forward to facing in the coming year?
With the reduction of funding across the university, I think the big challenge next year will be how to create more with less. I find that when there is less money around it’s often when the most creative ideas emerge.
What is your favourite thing about your work?
I do get a bit of a thrill when we identify a creative and effective solution to a problem faculty are having when teaching in an online environment. But I must admit that shooting and editing video is where I find my happy place.
